BOUTIQUE WEBSITES (Built to Convert).

Bespoke & personality-led websites for service-based businesses. Designed to reflect your brand.

Your web design matters.

Your website is often the very first impression people get of your business and within seconds, they’ll decide whether to stay or move on. When it’s designed well, visitors will say, “Yes, I’m in the right place.”

Done brilliantly, it’s your most powerful marketing tool for your business.

As a web designer, I love to bring creativity into every build – something rooted in my 15+ years as a photographer. Based in Nottingham, I work with service-based businesses across the UK.

Imagine … feeling proud to share your website.

It looks like your brand and speaks in your voice – an online shop window that draws clients in and makes them want to know more about you.

That’s what I design at Spotlight Lane: boutique websites for small businesses reflecting your personality and connecting with your audience.

Every site comes with SEO foundations built in, so you’re not just set up for today – you’re ready to grow tomorrow. Whether that’s adding new service pages, creating blog content, or scaling up with a full SEO strategy, your website is designed to grow with you, not hold you back.

What makes a great website?

Your website should be easy to navigate, clearly communicate who you are and what you offer and answer how you can solve potential client problems. For most people, it’s the first place they’ll check to decide if you’re credible and worth their investment (at least this is what I do when I’m looking for a service).

When I build a website, these are some key elements I factor in:

Easy to navigate

Clear menus and intuitive flow, so visitors know exactly where to go – and enquiries come easier.

Designed for your brand

A bespoke look that reflects your personality, builds trust, and makes you memorable.

Optimised for SEO

Built with the right headings, titles, and tags so search engines can read your content and to help clients find you.

Strong structure

Web pages laid out with purpose, guiding visitors naturally towards booking or enquiring.

Compelling visuals

Bespoke photography and stylish design elements that make your website unique to your business.

Mobile responsive

A design that looks seamless on desktop, tablet, and mobile so you’re website is working 24/7.

But hey, let’s go beyond design.

I won’t just design your website, I’ll go the extra mile with a strategy to win clients.

  • Brand Analysis. Before design begins, I’ll take take the time to understand your audience, brand messaging, and goals – so your website feels aligned with who you are and speaks directly to the right clients.
  • Competitor insights. I’ll research your industry so your site stands out, not just blends in.
  • Custom WordPress design. I use WordPress because it’s the most flexible and SEO-friendly platform, giving your business a website that’s lightweight, fast, and built to grow with you.
  • Simple editing – I’ll show you how to make small text changes or add blog posts through a ready-to-use template.
  • Optional extras – personal branding or headshot photography, additional service pages, blog setup, or ongoing SEO support – as and when you need it.

Want to know how website design and SEO work together?

And unlike social media, you own your website – that’s a huge asset for your business.

The web design process

1st

STEP

Discovery Call

We’ll talk about your business, your goals, and the personality you want your website to project. I’ll also ask you to send over your website copy, logo, branding colors and any images you want to use on your website. If you would like to include photography in your website build, just let me know beforehand so that we can tie this in with your project.

2nd

STEP

Design Concepts

I’ll share 2 homepage concepts so you can see how the design feels. This will be the base design for the rest of your pages and together, we’ll refine until it matches your vision.

3rd

STEP

Build

Once the home page design is agreed, I’ll build your site with SEO-ready foundations and responsive layouts.

4th

STEP

Launch

Your website goes live – fully tested across devices and browsers, ready to welcome visitors.

5th

STEP

Handover and Support

For one month after launch, I’ll be on hand to answer questions and make sure everything runs smoothly. If you require ongoing SEO consultancy, this is something we’ll set up after your launch.

Turning our vision into reality.

Alison instantly understood what we needed, brought fresh ideas we’d never thought of, and made the whole process simple from start to finish. She took the time to really understand our business, guided us with clear advice, and created a website that feels like us. We finally have a site we’re proud to share – one that reflects our brand and gives clients confidence in what we do.

All you need to know about designing your website

My brochure websites start from £1,300 for up to four pages, with additional pages from £150.
Every project is unique, so the final quote will depend on your content, goals, and functionality you’d like.

A 50% desposit is payable to commence your web design and the balance is payable upon completion.

You’ll need to provide the copy for all your pages, logo, brand guidelines and any images you would like including. If you have a clear vision of the design you’re looking for, you can put together a Pinterest board or share websites which you like and dislike. Your website will be completely unique and any websites you share with me, will be purely for reference.

If you’re totally lost on all of this, don’t worry – we can talk it through and if you want to give me free reign, I’m happy to run with it.

Yes. I’ll show you how to make small edits such as updating text, changing dates, or swapping images. If your site includes a blog, I’ll also provide a simple template so you can add new posts yourself. Larger changes (like redesigning layouts or altering site structure) are best left to me unless you’re already confident working with WordPress.

Most projects take between 4–8 weeks once I have your content. The exact timeline depends on the scope of your site and how quickly feedback and content come together.

All websites are built on WordPress with the Kadence theme which I customise to make it bespoke to your business. Most of my sites use the Kadence Pro licence, which provides extra flexibility for design, custom headers/footers, forms, and more.

At handover, you’ll need to purchase your own Kadence Pro licence direct from Kadence (approx £125 per year) so you continue to receive theme and plugin updates, plus support directly from Kadence (which is excellent by the way!). Note: Theme and plugin updates are essential for the upkeep and security of your website.

If you only need a very simple website, I can build it without the Pro licence. However, functionality will be limited, so I’d need to know this from the outset to make sure it will meet your needs.

If you’re on an ongoing support plan, I’ll manage this for you under my licence , so you won’t need to purchase it separately.

Sometimes, yes. If your site is already on WordPress, I may be able to refresh the design and improve its SEO foundations. If it’s built on another platform (like Wix or Squarespace), I’ll advise whether moving to WordPress would be the better long-term option.

Think of SEO foundations as the building blocks that help search engines understand your website. It means your site will be set up with:

  • A clear heading structure (so content is easy to follow)
  • Page titles and meta descriptions (what shows in search results)
  • Images with alt text (so search engines know what’s in them)

These basics are essential, but they’re only the starting point. To actually climb the rankings – especially in competitive industries or busy local areas – you’ll need an ongoing content and SEO strategy to build on those foundations.

Yes, you can add this into your web design build. You can find more information about my branding photography here.

No, you’ll need to purchase your own domain name and hosting. This keeps everything in your control and registered in your business name. I can recommend reliable hosting providers, and I strongly advise investing in quality hosting. It makes a significant difference to your website’s speed, security, and overall performance

Yes, I include one month of support after launch for small tweaks. Beyond that, I offer ongoing support plans for businesses who’d like regular help updating content, adding new pages, or improving their SEO over time.

If you’re on a support plan, your Kadence Pro licence is included so you don’t need to worry about managing plugin renewals or theme updates yourself. These plans are designed to combine website updates with SEO consultancy, helping your site keep growing after launch.
